More than $2,000 has been raised for Westmead Hospital by members of the western Sydney community in the recent Run 4 Jess fundraising run.

With a group of over 60 getting involved, participants set off on a two-kilometre course to support the annual Run 4 Jess event.

The Run 4 Jess event raises funds for the Westmead Hospital Foundation (WHF) in support of Westmead Hospital’s oncology ward.

These runners carry forward the legacy of Jess Clark, a patient of Westmead Hospital’s oncology ward, who sadly passed away in 2013 after a battle with cancer.

In honour of Jess, her husband Steve, and mother-in-law Lynette came together with the Girraween Athletics Club to establish this annual local fundraiser for Westmead Hospital as thank you for the care she received.

We’ve been doing this for years, it’s something that a lot of people look forward to.

At this year’s event, the sun shone as over 60 runners, walkers, and skippers came together at Girraween to participate and take on the course.

In doing so, they helped to raise over $2,000 for ward C5c at Westmead Hospital.

This funding will have a massive impact on the staff and patients of Western Sydney Local Health District.

It’s a day to bring community together while making a difference in people’s lives.
