Celebrating the tireless work of Westmead Hospital’s compassionate volunteers

National Volunteer Week is held from 20 – 26 May each year and is a time to celebrate the contribution of volunteers across Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD).

Week after week, volunteers give their time and energy to assist the patients, staff and visitors to WSLHD hospitals.

The theme for Volunteer Week this year is ‘Something for Everyone’, recognising the diverse passions and talents everyone brings to the act of volunteering.

Already this year, volunteers at Westmead and Auburn Hospitals have contributed over 11, 000 hours and have helped countless people in their health journey.

In addition, fundraising volunteers have contributed in excess of $87,000 to buy 27 essential pieces of medical equipment.

A morning tea and ceremony was held to celebrate the teams, with wonderful video presentations on display to pay tribute to the selfless contributions of the hospital volunteers.
